Types of Writing
Descriptive - creates a vivid picture

Imaginative - takes the reader into a new world with original and creative ideas

Persuasive - influences the reader

Expository (Informative) - explains, clarifies, reader learns something new

Narrative - tells a story



Fairy Tales - simple stories of humans dealing with fantastical forces (Rapunzel)

Fables - teaches a lesson, animals often speak (The Tortoise and the Hare)

Myths - attempts to explain mysteries (Pegasus, the Flying Horse)

Tall Tales - larger-than-life characters, exaggerated details (Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox)

Folk Tales - explains common daily struggles (The Three Little Pigs)

Legends- human characters who perform superhuman deeds (Robin Hood)
